About Us

We are a family owned kennel based in Kansas. Over the years we’ve loved 4 legged, tail wagging friends of many different breeds. German Shepherds, English mastiffs, and pit bulls to name a few. When we started our family, we began researching breeds that could offer the companionship of the English Mastiff but also the protection of a German Shepherd and the athleticism of a pit bull. That’s when we came across the Cane Corso. The powerful, working dogs that are also lovingly referred to as velcro dogs became our top choice. After months of research, we chose a breeder and in December 2018 Lyra joined our family. Within a few months we knew that she needed a friend and just like that 1 became 2! Lyra and Tiernan have proven to be everything that we would expect from the breed and more! The decision to import Bugatti directly from Italy was made early 2021 and with her arrival that summer Vae Victis was born!!

Vae Victis Cane Corso

Our dogs are very much a part of our family. They were raised in our home with our children, as are our litters from day one. We believe that Cane Corsos in particular are dogs that will work for you and will guard and protect you to no end, as we would do for them.

We intend to breed top quality dogs that are true to the standard. Dogs with stable temperaments, a strong working drive and sound conformation. We do this through selective breeding with only the best pedigrees, health testing and socialization. There are many breeders out there, but we hold high expectations for ourselves and others to improve the breed.

All of our dogs are registered with these 3 registries. We actively compete in AKC and UKC conformation and sporting events promoting the sport of purebred dogs and breeding for type and function.

COMPETITION

“We began competing in conformation and sporting events in August 2020. By May 2021 Lyra was a UKC Champion, Tiernan was a dual AKC/UKC Champion and both Lyra and Tiernan held a BCAT title in FastCat. All of these titles were achieved with both dogs being handled by us, as owner handlers. We anticipate that 2022 will bring opportunities to try other working events with our dogs, as well as Bugatti’s turn in the conformation ring.

Many programs are built solely on the pedigrees of the dogs. While we give pedigrees of the dogs that are brought into our program careful consideration, we believe that proving our dogs in and out of the conformation ring is the best way for us to ensure that we are not only producing quality pups but contributing to the betterment of the breed overall. Our success in the conformation rings ensures that we are conforming to the breed standard. However, it is just as important to us to prove our dogs’ workability, as they are a working breed.

       SHOWS & SPORTS

Conformation

Conformation: This is the term for the event that most people think of when they think of a “dog show”. Conformation events are designed to display purebred dogs with the ideal characteristics of their respective breeds. These standards are determined by each breed’s official parent association and upheld by organizations such as the American Kennel Club (AKC) or the United Kennel Club (UKC). Ultimately, the goal is to maintain and improve each breed so that future generations remain of the highest quality.

In a conformation event judges determine the best specimens of each dog breed. Many people think conformation events are beauty pageants in which dogs compete against each other. In reality each dog is being judged individually against the breed standard, and the dog who most closely conforms to the standard wins.

Fast CAT - K9 Sports
Fast CAT:
stands for Coursing Ability Test –is a timed 100 yard dash where dogs chase a lure. A Cane Corso was historically used as a catch dog. This event taps into their instinct to chase and catch.
